Melissa Longo, D.C.

Living the Holistic Lifestyle.

Dr. Longo’s passion for holistic care extends beyond her work. She has raised her children using a holistic approach to healthcare as well. She truly practices what she preaches.

Life Outside Midwest.

On top of her work at the office, Dr. Longo  is a full time wife and mother of 3 boys.  She loves cheering on her children during their various sporting events and supporting her husband, Sean, during his bodybuilding contests. She also enjoys family vacations. When she gets a free second to breathe, she enjoys taking pilates classes.

You will never meet a more patient, kind, and caring physician.  Dr. Longo is always going above and beyond for her patients. She will take the time to listen and explain any issues that arise. She uses a unique holistic approach that creates results beyond expectation. In keeping with the holistic approach,  integrating functional bloodwork analysis into her practice has continued to raise the bar for patient care.

Sean Royer, D.C., C.C.S.P

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

Sean has been a national level competitive bodybuilder since 2007. His passion, dedication, and competitive drive, coupled with raw talent, are some keys to his success. Sean competes naturally, without the use of steroids, and more than holds his own against other competitors. Sean has won numerous local and national competitions, most recently placing 1st at the LH class at the 2012 NPC Team Universe show in NJ.

Life Outside Midwest.

When not  at the office, Sean can be found working out, meal prepping, or running around with his 3 boys.  They keep him busy bouncing from basketball to soccer to baseball. Sean also coaches the boys’ baseball teams and loves sharing his knowledge of the game with them.

Sean has a solid background in anatomy, bio mechanics, and nutrition. These three aspects are proven by his accomplishments as a National Level Bodybuilder. This level of expertise allows him the ability to work with patients through  a functional and structural approach.

Amy Friedman, LPT

Physical Therapist

Taking her passion to the next level.

For Amy, exercising, fitness, and healthy eating are her lifestyle and her passion. She is currently competing in figure competitions and won her class in only her second show ever!

Life Outside Midwest.

Amy has three kids: Alex, Sydney, and Jake. When not with her three kids or working, you can find her at the gym pumping iron or cooking “clean” in the kitchen.

Amy joined Midwest Chiropractic in 2002. She became director of physical therapy at Midwest in 2006. Amy began her career in general orthopedic physical therapy, and in 2007 she began specializing in women’s/men’s health. Amy has expanded Midwest’s pelvic floor program for women and men to include multiple diagnoses such as pelvic pain, vulvodynia, painful bladder syndrome (PBS), constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), urine or fecal incontinence. She is currently a board member of the CPFRC ( Chicagoland Pelvic Floor Research Consortium) group started in September 2011. Amy is also a certified Pilates instructor.

Becky Rivard, ATC

Athletic Trainer

Always an Athlete.

Becky has been a competitive athlete ever since she can remember. From softball to basketball to track, she has done it all. While her days as a collegiate heptathlete are over, she still enjoys competing as a CrossFit athlete.

Life Outside Midwest.

In addition to working at Midwest, Becky also teaches CrossFit classes and does personal training.  She enjoys working out, wine tasting, photo editing, and spending time with friends.

Becky really enjoys working in the rehabilitation setting. She has a passion for figuring out the source of symptoms and working to correct the problem. She loves the holistic approach to healing and enjoys educating patients on how to improve their health and wellness through simple changes.  She has a unique way of motivating patients and truly cares about their well being.

Bruce Lloyd

Massage Therapist

Moving past tradition.

Bruce has been working in a clinical environment and in private practice for many years. Having seen and experienced some of the strengths and limitations of traditional western medicine in his personal life, he is excited by the possibilities that exist with alternative modalities and massage in particular.

Life Outside Midwest.

Bruce’s interest in health and human performance is enhanced outside the clinic as he has been an avid cyclist for years. His involvement in the cycling world has given him additional insight into kinesiology, mechanics, and understanding many soft tissue injury conditions.

Improving Patient Care.

Bruce is always ready and willing to educate his patients on the importance of stretching to both relieve pain and increase function. He will often times be found taking the time to review stretches with his patients before or after a massage session.

Kaori Nakamura

Massage Therapist

Helping People Around the World.

Kaori has experience in a variety of hands on healing settings. She has worked in both Japan and the US, using specialty massage modalities such as aromatherapy, reflexology, reiki, in addition to tradional techniques. All of her years of experience have made her a very well-rounded therapist.

Life Outside Midwest.

Kaori enjoys listening to Opera music, practicing yoga, cooking, and spending time with her husband. She also enjoys traveling back to Japan to see her family.
