How much sleep do you really need?

Sleep places a crucial role in our health and well-being. For maximum function, it is recommended that adults get seven to nine hours of sleep per night. There are many benefits to getting a sufficient amount of sleep: better mood, decreased risks of gaining weight, healthier immune system, increased alertness, and many more. According to new research, “making up sleep” by allowing oneself to sleep in for a day after a busy week may not be enough to normalize one’s body from the deficits caused by lack of sleep. Therefore it is important to make sure that you are consistently getting a good amount of sleep.

However, if you are having trouble with getting to sleep or periodically waking up in the middle of the night, this may be due to an issue dealing with hormone imbalance, pain, or even your own pillow. If this applies to you, then do not hesitate to bring this up at your next appointment with our team of skilled healthcare providers. We believe in the importance of sleep and would like to help you get the best quality and quantity of sleep as possible.
