Vitamin D is one of the great balancers of the immune system. Without adequate levels, the two different sides of your immune system will be off balance and can lead to a variety of symptoms and illnesses.

Most people think that eating dairy products or spending some time in the sun will create adequate levels of vitamin D. This may not be the case. Although there are some foods that contain relatively high amounts of vitamin D, those levels are not adequate enough. The next option is to obtain vitamin D from UVB rays from the sun. Well, unfortunately, the midwest sun is not strong enough 3 out of the 4 seasons of the year to provide adequate amounts of vitamin D.

The next option is to use a supplement form of vitamin D.
